Alvie L. Brock, known affectionately as "Al," passed away suddenly on April 17, 2025, in Memphis, TN. He was born on August 22, 1934, in Tippah County, MS, and went on to lead a life that was a testament to hard work, devotion, and love for those around him.
Alvie spent an impressive 35 years as a dedicated dairy worker, embodying the spirit of a true provider. His commitment to his career reflected his humble nature and unwavering determination. A kind soul, Alvie never met a stranger, captivating the hearts of many with his polite demeanor and engaging conversations. He lived a simple, peaceful life grounded in Christian values, which resonated deeply with family and friends alike.
Cherished as a protector of children and a devoted husband, Alvie's love for his family was unyielding. Memories of him are filled with joy—fishing trips with his beloved daughter and wife, singing bluegrass, gospel, and country music alongside his brothers fiddle and guitar at family reunions, and cooking breakfast every morning (even when the biscuits met an unfortunate culinary fate). He cherished the great outdoors, taking pride in yard work and sharing hunting excursions with his nephews. Secretly, he held a fondness for dogs, adding another layer of warmth to his character.
Alvie's proudest accomplishments were his children, Sharon Brock and Aaela Keelin, and his grandchild, Colton Keelin. His life was profoundly enriched by being baptized and saved, as well as achieving the dream of buying the home he always wanted. These milestones reflect not just his dedication to his own family but his commitment to building a loving legacy that will long be remembered.
In addition to his surviving family members, which include his brother Harold Brock and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, Alvie is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Etta Brock, stepmother Elizabeth Brock, his beloved wife Joyce Ann Brock, and five brothers and four sisters. Their absence is felt deeply, yet it is through their combined memories and the love they've shared that Alvie's spirit continues to resonate.
Alvie's life will be celebrated with heartfelt gatherings. Visitation will take place on April 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A Graveside Service will be held subsequently at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM.
Alvie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and unwavering love. As we celebrate his life, may we carry forward the lessons he imparted, forever grateful for the time we shared with such a remarkable man.
