Betty M. Hembree

Betty Marie Prather Hembree, 75, of Como, MS, passed away on October 15, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Born in Memphis, TN, on March 1, 1950, to Leland and Marie Prather, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.  She spent her life caring deeply for others and built a home filled with laughter, love, and the kind of warmth that drew people in.

Betty was a lifelong homemaker whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends.  She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome - whether you needed a smile, a hug, a home-cooked meal, or just someone to sit with.  Her door was always open.

She had a natural gift for friendship and a spirit that stayed bright no matter what life brought her way.  In her younger years, she played softball, volleyball, and enjoyed bowling.  In recent years, she found a new passion in line dancing - something that brought her joy, movement, and community.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jack Lynn and Joseph Leland Hembree, both of Como, MS; her grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who will miss her laugh, her stories, and her endlessly giving heart.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Ann.

A private graveside service will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi.
