Billy Joe Pilgrim, 79, of Memphis, TN passed away at his residence on July 24, 2018. He was born on November 19, 1938 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to the late Elvin Lee Pilgrim and Lela Blanch Smith Pilgrim.
Mr. Pilgrim loved to hunt. He painted pictures in his spare time. He retired from the Memphis Police Department after twenty-five years of service.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Gloria “Penny” Pilgrim of Memphis, TN; two sons, Charles Pilgrim of Hendersonville, TN and James Boettcher (Sherry) of Southaven, MS; three daughters, Billie Ruth Applegate (Jerry) of Hernando, MS, Bridgett Evon Odom of Southaven, MS, and Christina Marie Mangum (Carl) of Byram, MS; two brothers, Robert Lee Pilgrim of Lincoln, AR and Jerry Pilgrim (Judy) of Conyers, GA ; two sisters, Helen Jean Deanman of Ray City, GA, and Jennie Seaman of Mobile, AL; twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pilgrim was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is going to be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM at Colonial Hills Baptist Church (7701 US-51, Southaven, MS 38671) with a funeral service following at 12:30 PM.
Interment will take place at Pleasant Point Cemetery in Paris, TN at a later date.
