Carroll Wayne Drake, lovingly known by his nicknames Duck, Papaw, and Mallard, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 21, 1937, in Texarkana, Arkansas, and dedicated over thirty years to a fulfilling career in newspaper and catalog printing.

Carroll Wayne was a God-fearing man whose faith guided his life and demeanor. He possessed a warm and inviting personality, never meeting a stranger and always eager to witness for the Lord, leading others to Christ. He was a devoted family man, cherishing time spent with his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Drake, and their children: Howard Drake, Darrell (Kellie) Drake, and Chris (Charlotte) Drake. Carroll Wayne took immense pride in the achievements of his grandchildren, Eric (Dakota) Drake, Lauren (Destin) Drake, Cannon Drake, and Caleb Drake, and was further blessed with a great-grandchild, Anne Elizabeth Drake. His legacy of love and kindness will continue through them.

Carroll Wayne's life was marked by a variety of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, building wooden walking sticks, and spending time with his pet deer. He was also passionate about fishing and hunting. His love for sports was evident, as was his commitment to teaching his grandchildren, imparting to them the values and skills that shaped his life.

In addition to his family, Carroll Wayne’s kindness extended to a host of friends and other family members, as he valued community and connection deeply. His contributions included involvement in a country-western band named The Rebel during his service in the U.S. Air Force, a jail ministry, and serving on the board of Save a Life, alongside his participation in various church music ministries where he shared his talent and love of gospel music.

Carroll Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ruth Drake, and siblings Patsy Ruth Stinson and Eddy Lynn (Beverly) Drake. He is survived by his loving spouse, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, siblings Von (Janet) Drake and Patricia (Billy) Guthrie, and many friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.

Visitation for Carroll Wayne Drake will be held on December 26, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Carroll Wayne Drake will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but, more importantly, as a perfect husband, father, grandfather, and a man who embraced life, love, and faith with open arms. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
