It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl L. Hilliard, who left this world peacefully in her sleep on June 13, 2026, at her home in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on November 18, 1963, in Memphis, Tennessee, Cheryl lived a life marked by vibrancy, passion, and an unwavering zest for all that life had to offer.
Cheryl was a hard worker who embraced life fully and loved deeply. She was a "full throttle" person in every sense, never holding back her spirit or her joy. Stubborn at times, yet always fun-loving and protective, Cheryl was the quintessential life of the party—a joker whose infectious laughter brightened every room she entered. She found immense pleasure in simple joys like Christmas celebrations, sitting on the porch, swimming, playing sports, and riding 4-wheelers. She also cherished the thrill of motorcycle rides in her younger days, reflecting her adventurous soul.
Her proudest accomplishments were her grandchildren, who were the center of her world, bringing her boundless pride and joy. Cheryl’s love extended warmly to her family, who remain in deep mourning but also carry forward her legacy of strength and love. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Hilliard; her children Joey (Candace) Gregg, Chadwick Hopkins, and Brandon (Danielle) Hilliard; her treasured grandchildren Josie, Will, Wesley, Shayla, and Cheyenne; and a great-grandchild who will carry her spirit into the future. Cheryl also leaves behind her siblings Ruthie, Gary, Johnny, and Donna, who, along with her extended family, will forever remember her spirit and the joy she brought to their lives.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, William Hawkins and Doris Fanning; her step-mother, Margaret Hawkins; and her sisters Amelia, Terri, and Vickie. Despite these losses, Cheryl’s love and strength never waned, and she remained a pillar of support and humor to all who knew her.
Everything about Cheryl was loved—her warmth, her stubbornness, her protective nature, her playful spirit—all etched into the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. As we prepare to celebrate her life, let us remember Cheryl’s unyielding spirit, her zest for life, and the indelible mark she left on her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, located at 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS 38671. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. We invite all who loved Cheryl to come together to honor a remarkable woman who knew how to live, love, and laugh fully.
Cheryl L. Hilliard will be remembered as a beacon of joy, strength, and love—a woman who embraced every moment and blessed those around her with her generous spirit. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who called her family and friend.
