Chong Pun Rodenberg, a gentle spirit whose light illuminated the lives of many, passed away on July 25, 2025, in Walls, Mississippi. Born on July 16, 1941, in Seoul, Korea, Chong led a life rich with love, warmth, and joy.
A mother like no other, she embodied the essence of devotion and kindness, leaving an indelible mark upon all who were fortunate enough to know her. Described as the sweetest woman one could ever meet, Chong was unfiltered in her affection, enduringly steadfast in her work ethic, and profoundly nurturing as a mother to her beloved son, Matthew Rodenberg.
Chong's personality was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of sociability; a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. Her engaging spirit resonated with those around her, as she effortlessly struck up conversations and forged connections wherever she went. Her hobbies reflected her zest for life—she found joy in exercising, tending to her garden, and feeding her birds. Sundays were cherished moments spent at Cornerstone Church, where she gathered with her community in fellowship.
As a proud wife to her late husband, Marshall Rodenberg, Chong celebrated the union of their hearts through marriage and cherished the journey of adopting their son, Matthew. These were among her proudest accomplishments—testaments to a life richly lived.
While she leaves behind many cherished memories—too numerous to mention—her absence will be poignantly felt by all who knew her. Chong is survived by her son, Matthew Rodenberg, along with several brothers and sisters in Korea, her brother-in-law Malcolm Rodenberg, and her sister-in-law Robin Rodriguez.
A visitation will take place at Cornerstone Church in Southaven on August 4, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, leading into a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Chong Pun Rodenberg's legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all she touched, and though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever flourish in our memories.
