Danny Messer, of Horn Lake, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, after a long illness, surrounded by family. He was born on June 27, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Danny lived a life centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys that made people feel welcome in his presence. He graduated with the Frayser High School Class of 1973, where he played baseball and remained close with his classmates through the years. After high school, he attended Draughons Business School, where he met his future wife, beginning a partnership that would shape the rest of his life.

He went on to build a long career in furniture sales and manufacturing. Those who knew Danny will remember a man who was always there, someone who loved to have a good time and who brought warmth to every gathering. He loved to joke, tell stories, and visit with others, and he truly never met a stranger. He was a fountain of historic information, always ready to share what he knew and to keep a conversation going.

Danny found happiness in the people and pastimes he loved most. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and had a special fondness for candles, which he collected and burned. He treasured traveling with his family and especially enjoyed traveling with his wife. Family vacations became lasting memories for those he loved, reflecting the joy he found simply in being together.

Among Danny’s proudest accomplishments were his children, his family, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy Messer. He also leaves behind his son, Greg Messer; his daughter, Melissa Messer Hanson; his son-in-law, Justin Hanson; and his grandchildren, Branden Messer, Cameron Messer, Adalynn Hanson, and Carson Hanson. The love he shared with his family was at the heart of his life, and his presence will remain a lasting part of theirs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Messer; his mother, Annie Messer; and his brother, Mike Messer.

Visitation will be held on October 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, Mississippi 38671. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Hinds Chapel C.M.C, 4899 Fogg Rd N, Nesbit, Mississippi 38641.

Danny Messer will be remembered for his humor, his stories, his welcoming spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His life was a blessing to those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished always.
