Daryl Wayne Sackett, 56, Olive Branch, MS, passed away on December 12th, 2025. Born to Dwayne and Judy Sackett in Tyler, TX, he often talked about how much he appreciated his experience growing up on ranches, about the work ethic it instilled, his relationship with his brothers Clay, Shawn, Josh, Jared, and his stepmom Kelly. He cherished his memories with them getting knocked around handling the horses, shooting BB guns, and riding dirt bikes.
Inspired by a deep love of country, he joined the Air Force at 19, where he did Target Intelligence and continued to become a Hebrew Linguist. During his ten years in the service, he served honorably and was recognized with a plethora of awards. This is also where he met Joanne, who would become his wife of 32 years. Through many moves, the birth of his five children Erik, Katie, Morgan, Wyatt, Leah, and the birth of his grandchildren Noah, Evelynn and Winter, he built a home full of love and wisdom.
Although both of his parents have already passed, he often remarked on the aspects in which his surviving family resembled and reminded him of them, proud to know that their names would be passed down through family and wishing that they’d had more time with their own grandchildren.
Daryl Sackett was a proud and steadfast man who impacted many, including Dawn Walterhouse, a fellow service member, who became a life-long friend and a pillar within the Sackett family through many important life events. He inspired many throughout his life in both big and small ways; sometimes through silly faces, karaoke, or playing DND and sometimes through late night philosophy guiding people on their spiritual journeys. In addition to 22 years of government service in the FAA, he was most proud of the family that he had created, the people whose lives he positively impacted, and of the wisdom he hoped to impart.
He is survived by Joanne Sackett, the mother of his five children, and his three grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Services will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, at 2 p.m. December 19th, 2025, to remember and honor his memory. A more intimate gathering will be held later for a Celebration of Life. Please follow us back to the house at 6570 Rollings Hills Dr. or meet us there at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you spend the money on something to remember him or support a non-profit organization that you think would’ve resonated with him. It is often the brightest lights that battle the most darkness.
