Elizabeth Mitchell Wright, lovingly known as Liz, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Southaven, Mississippi, after courageously battling cancer for thirteen years. Born on October 7, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee, Liz’s life was a beacon of strength, honesty, and devotion that touched everyone who had the fortune to know her.
Liz was a woman defined by her outspoken nature and strong will—qualities that made her the strongest person her sisters had ever known. She never sugar-coated the truth, always speaking with unabashed honesty, even when it was difficult to hear. This authenticity was coupled with a sharp, sarcastic wit that revealed the depth of her character and her generous spirit. Those who knew Liz admired her giving heart and her unfaltering commitment to those she loved.
A devoted Christian, Liz’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through joyful moments and the profound challenges she faced during her long illness. She found solace and meaning in her beliefs, which buoyed her as she endured countless treatments with resilience and grace.
Liz delighted in her passions, which reflected her vibrant spirit. She was an enthusiastic attendee of Walker Stalker cons and comic cons, where she could immerse herself in the worlds she loved. Her collection of The Walking Dead memorabilia was a source of pride and joy, much like her cherished trips to Covington, Georgia. Above all, Liz loved her dog, Macy, who was more than a pet—Macy was her child and a profound part of her heart.
Family was the centerpiece of Liz’s proudest accomplishments. She took great pride in being a part of raising her whole family, leaving behind a legacy of love and unity. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Tristan Wright, and her devoted furbaby, Macy. Her siblings—Maurice Mitchell, Lindy, Tommie Mitchell Smith, Chrissy Gilchrist, Chris Legendre, Cyndi Sons, and Bret—along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, carry forward her memory and the immense love she shared with them all.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Joan Mitchell, who undoubtedly shaped the remarkable woman she became.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Liz illumined are invited to honor her memory through visitation on April 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi.
