Elowese Marlin

February 26, 1941 — August 9, 2025

Hernando, MS

"A good heart has stopped beating, but a heart that has touched so many lives can't help but live on in those it loved."

Today we are here to celebrate the life of Elowese Young Marlin. Many called her "Mawmaw" and "friend". God placed her here on earth February 26, 1941 and called her home on August 9, 2025. She has touched many lives with her strength and determination. Many knew her for being outgoing, family oriented and loved her family dearly, independent, and sassy. Elowese was a one-of-a-kind woman as she never met a stranger, making friends wherever she went. She spent many of her days playing cards, dancing, cooking, or as she would say, "being the life of the party".

Elowese spent eight years as a substitute teacher at Southaven High School. Later in life, she then worked at Lowe's for nine years where she met many of her life-long friends. Her career choices prove her love for people and community. She stated that one of her greatest accomplishments in life was meeting her husband. One day she was in a restaurant with a friend and in her words, "when opened the door, and all I could say is 'Who is that good-looking man?' " Having no clue that her life would carry many more blessings.

In addition to her parents Jeff and Nezzie (Gregory) Young and eight siblings, Elowese joined her husband, Gene Marlin, who passed August 28, 2015. They spent 56 years of life creating memories.

She leaves behind her children Terri Simer (Will), and Michael Marlin (Jennifer), her grandchildren Malory Marlin (Pedro Acevedo), Lindsey Hunt (Brady), and Katie Morris (Brady), and her great-grandchild Carter Morris.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Elowese will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband immediately following at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Though Elowese is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts and memories. Let us honor her life by cherishing the love and joy she brought into our lives.

Memorials may be made to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital at the link below, or to the Tennessee Dachshund Rescue.
