Frances Lorraine Gralow

October 31, 1946 — October 4, 2023

Frances Lorraine Gralow, age 76, of Horn Lake, ran into the loving arms of Jesus and heard the words “Well done, good and faithful servant” on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Baptist East in Memphis.  She was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 31, 1946 to the late Harrison William and Donna Dorothy (Nelson) Gralow.

Frances graduated from Hope College in Hope, MI, obtaining her undergraduate degree in math, and then graduated from Biola University where she earned her Master’s degree in applied linguistics.  She was a missionary through Global Missions and started her missionary work in Columbia, where she spent 26 years with the Koreguaje tribe, while she was there, she learned their language, developed an alphabet, and translated the Bible to their language, and then taught them how to read.  She further went on to do similar literacy and missions work in Kenya, Sudan, and lastly in Angola, where she was the first literacy missionary to ever go there.

Frances will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Harrison Gralow (Varaporn “June”) and Jack Gralow, sister Judy Wasson, nieces Jhesi Solares, Corrie Ann Delgado, Rose Ann Burns, and Jennifer Kristin Gralow, nephews Shane Brown, Joshua Brown, Caleb Cunningham, and Jackson Cunningham, and a host of friends which she considered family around the world.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at  Holmes Road Church of Christ, 1187 E Holmes Road, Memphis, TN 38116 from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 am.
