Glenda West, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished soul, quietly passed away in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 18, 2026, after living a beautiful life for 79 wonderful years. Born on November 2, 1946, in Mississippi, Glenda’s journey was marked by love, kindness, and a deep connection to her family and community.
From the sweet words shared by her daughter-in-law, it is clear that Glenda was truly a people person. Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, she was a beacon of love and joy to those around her. Her family fondly remembers the many ways she expressed that love—whether through her passion for cooking, her affection for her grandchildren, or the simple pleasures she enjoyed like snacking on Lay’s chips and sipping Coke. No one could match the delight she brought with her biscuits, which her children would say were the very best they ever ate.
Glenda’s love extended beyond her human family to her beloved cat, Tigger, who shared her home and heart. She treasured her hobbies too, spending joyful hours crocheting, perfecting her biscuit recipes, and indulging in online shopping, reflecting a vibrant spirit eager to explore and create.
She was especially proud of her children—Glynis Anderson, David West, and Timothy West—her six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, who filled her days with laughter and pride. Her sister, Elaine Bernard, also remains a loving part of her story. Though her parents, Dalton and Essie Graham, and her husband, Oscar West, have gone before her, their memories undoubtedly live on in Glenda’s legacy of love.
Glenda had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special. Her affectionate nature was woven into everything she did, from the way she cooked and shopped to the way she cherished family gatherings. Her love of going out to eat and exploring new places with those she cared about were treasured moments that enriched the lives of all fortunate enough to be with her.
The family will honor Glenda’s life with a graveside service at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, located at 290 Goodman Rd E in Southaven, Mississippi. The service will take place from 1:00 PM on May 26, 2026, where loved ones will gather to celebrate a life well lived.
Glenda West leaves behind a legacy of sweetness, care, and boundless love that will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and generous heart have made a lasting imprint on the world, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. Rest peacefully, Glenda, knowing that your loving spirit lives on in the hearts of your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others whose lives you touched.
