James Edward Pitts, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born on May 6, 1948, in Memphis, TN. He departed this world on September 24, 2025, in Southaven, MS, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will be dearly cherished by his family and friends.
Jimmy dedicated much of his life to serving the community through his career with the Shelby County School System in maintenance and later at Walmart. His pride in his work and his dedication to his job were just a few of the many accomplishments that filled his heart with joy. Above all, he treasured his family, who he considered his greatest achievement.
An outgoing and good-hearted individual, Jimmy had an infectious spirit that brought joy to every gathering. His humor and kindness touched the lives of many, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Family gatherings were enriched by the times spent together, especially going to wrestling matches where he wore his beloved fake wrestling belt with pride. These moments of joy were particularly special as he enjoyed them with his mom, further bonding over their shared interests.
Jimmy's love extended to the youngest members of his family; he found immense joy in spending time with his great-great-niece Sarah and great-great-nephew CJ. His passion for collecting Matchbox cars was a reflection of his playful spirit—a little piece of childhood that he carried with him throughout his life.
He is survived by his brothers David Trusty (Regina) and John Trusty (Donna), and his sister, Debbie Trusty, who all continue to celebrate the life he lived. Also holding his memory dear is his girlfriend, Karen Whisenshunt, who brought joy to his later years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Billy and Elizabeth Pitts, his wife Johnnie Ann Pitts, and his son Tony Pitts. Their spirits will forever accompany him on this next journey, as he rejoins them in peace.
Jimmy’s vibrant spirit will be sorely missed, but his laughter and the love he shared will resonate through the tales and memories his family and friends carry forward. In their hearts, he will always be remembered as the fun-loving man who found delight in the simple pleasures of life, surrounded by the family he adored.
