James Warren, Jr.

December 28, 1975 — September 14, 2025

Ladies and gentlemen, grab your favorite instruments and strike a chord for a beloved soul who put the "fun" in "funeral," James Warren, Jr., affectionately known as Cricket. Born on December 28, 1975, in Memphis, Tennessee, and serenely departing this world on September 14, 2025, in Horn Lake, Mississippi, Cricket truly embodied all the qualities that make life spectacular—a passion for music, a deep love for his family, and an easy-going demeanor that could put anyone at ease.

As a guitarist in a band, Cricket was known for his knack for crafting melodies that could make you tap your foot and sway with joy. His good work ethic shone through not only on stage but also as a dedicated employee at Patterson Warehouse, where he brought the same enthusiasm he had for music into his daily grind. Whether he was strumming a tune or lifting boxes, he was always the calm, cool, and chill guy everyone loved to work alongside.

Cricket’s character went far beyond his musical talents. With a kind heart, a genuine smile, and an astonishing ability to make anyone feel at home, he was a treasure to all who knew him. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Ni Tran, making every effort, even in challenging times, to visit her while she was in Vietnam. In a memorable act of love, he even took the bold step of cutting his long hair, a testament to the lengths he would go for those he cherished.

Cricket’s legacy lives on through his wonderful children, Vinh Banh, Mya, and Maya Warren, who are undoubtedly carrying on their father's warm spirit and love for music. He was a proud man, never missing an opportunity to boast about his wonderful family and the joy they brought him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember the laughter-filled moments spent together at home, his love for baseball, thrilling travels, and his extraordinary ability to connect with those around him. So many memories!

He leaves behind his father, James Warren, Sr., and siblings Nick and Michelle, not to mention a host of family and friends who will carry his spirit in their hearts forever. His mother, George Ann Warren, and grandparents have welcomed him with open arms in the great beyond, where we just know he’s serenading them with his sweetest riffs.

As we prepare to bid farewell, join us for a visitation with Cricket's spirit on September 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Then, we’ll transition to the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, before heading to Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens for a burial at 2:00 PM.

Rest well, dear Cricket. Your gentle soul has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we will carry your tune with us forever!
