Jerry Wayne Gross, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Horn Lake, Mississippi, at the age of 75. Born on October 21, 1949, in Helena, Arkansas, Jerry was a shining light to all who knew him, embodying a spirit filled with love, humor, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Jerry devoted his professional life to plumbing, where his contributions were instrumental to the success of several companies, including Olive Branch Plumbing, and eventually retiring from Krag Plumbing. As a master plumber and esteemed leader, he not only honed his craft, but also took immense pride in being a mentor to many successful plumbers. His legacy in the plumbing world was as remarkable as in his family life, where he demonstrated what it means to be a caring and loving patriarch.
His personality was truly endearing; sweet and outgoing, Jerry never met a stranger. He had a knack for making everyone feel welcome, and with his infectious sense of humor, he brought joy to every gathering. Whether it was playing dominoes, enjoying a casual beer with friends, or passionately cheering for NASCAR and college football, he embraced life fully and encouraged those around him to do the same. He enjoyed singing karaoke and loved to dance, filling rooms with laughter and music wherever he went. His adventurous spirit shone through in his passion for traveling with his family, creating cherished memories that will forever live in their hearts.
Jerry's proudest accomplishments included becoming a father and grandfather, a role he cherished deeply. He was a source of support and guidance for his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Connie (Logsdon) Gross, his children, Candace Gross, Bryan Gross, and Sonya Wendell (Gary), and a grandfather to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, he shared a special bond with his sister Judy Faulkner (James), and leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins who admired and loved him dearly.
Though Jerry lived a full and vibrant life, he faced challenges along the way, including being hard-headed and stubborn at times. Yet, these qualities just added to the rich tapestry of his character, making him the unforgettable person he was. His journey also included achievements in athletics, having been recruited to play college basketball for Memphis State when he was just in 10th grade, and being a Golden Gloves boxer in his youth—a testament to his determination and competitive spirit.
He joins his parents, John and Melba (Smith) Gross, along with siblings Johnny Gross, Terry Gross, and James Bo Gross, who welcomed him in spirit.
