Kathleen Conklin LaMoore, fondly known as Kathye, was a remarkable woman whose presence enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Born on December 13, 1937, in Memphis, TN, she graced this world with her gentle strength and steadfast dedication. On May 15, 2025, she passed away in Southaven, MS, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity.
Kathye dedicated over a decade of her life as the administrator for Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation, where her commitment to others shone brightly. With a personality that was both disciplined and nurturing, she raised her three sons—Richard LaMoore, Sr., Lance LaMoore, and the late Raymond LaMoore—with firm yet loving guidance. Her unique ability to balance strictness with warmth earned her immense respect within her family. She was a woman of quiet strength, never showing fear in the face of challenges, always ensuring the well-being of her family, and checking in on them regularly, even when her own resources were scarce.
Her devotion extended beyond motherhood; she reveled in the joys of being a grandmother. Kathye cherished those moments spent watching the Super Bowl with her grandchildren—an event where she would become joyously animated, her voice rising above the cheer of the game. It was during these vibrant occasions that the love she shared with her grandchildren and beloved husband, Lawrence Raymond LaMoore, truly came to life.
Kathye’s life was a mosaic of simple pleasures and treasured passions. She found solace and joy in reading, immersed in novels during commercial breaks on television, and she brought the holiday spirit to life year-round by indulging in Hallmark Christmas movies. For her, the warmth of Christmas never faded. She was also a talented cook, known for filling the home with delightful aromas and nurturing meals wrapped in her love. An ardent fan of the Atlanta Braves, she celebrated every home run with the same enthusiasm she displayed in life's other victories.
Perhaps Kathye's most cherished accomplishment was the profound impact she made as a mother and grandmother. She instilled in her family the values of giving, teaching them that the act of giving holds intrinsic worth, irrespective of the return. Those who were fortunate enough to be in her orbit will carry her lessons forward, as her generous spirit will continue to inspire.
Kathye is survived by her loving sons, Richard LaMoore, Sr. and Lance LaMoore; her siblings, Saverio "Joe" Cianciolo (Ruby) and Mary Andrea Cianciolo; her beloved grandchildren, Richard LaMoore, Jr., Andrew LaMoore, Josh LaMoore, and Matt LaMoore; as well as three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Raymond LaMoore; her son, Raymond LaMoore; her parents, Paul and Mary (Huffman) Conklin; her brother, Paul Conklin; her sister, Michelle Cianciolo; and her stepfather, Andrew Cianciolo.
As we reflect on the life of Kathye, we are reminded of the light she brought into our lives, her remarkable ability to give selflessly, and the warmth of her unconditional love. She will be greatly missed by all, forever a cherished memory in the hearts of those she touched.
