Kimberly Belle Thompson, affectionately known as Kimmi, lit up the world with her vibrant spirit on December 13, 1977, in Memphis, TN. She departed from this world on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of joy, creativity, and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Kimmi inspired countless children as an assistant teacher and an art instructor, nurturing the minds and imaginations of her students. Her artistic flair was evident not just in her teaching but also in her everyday life. She relished in the joy of playing dress-up, engaging in spontaneous sing-alongs, and crafting unforgettable moments, whether through her mesmerizing dances—none more perfect than her rendition of "Party in the USA"—or her boundless creativity showcased in her art.
Kimmi was a true embodiment of fun and whimsy, embracing her artistic side with unmatched enthusiasm. As a child of the theater, she consistently put on a show for friends and loved ones alike, never missing an opportunity to invoke laughter, especially through her beloved Saturday Night Live. She approached life with a light-heartedness that was infectious, a trait that drew people in and wrapped them in warmth.
Her journey was not without challenges; she faced a long battle with cancer with unparalleled courage and grace, surrounded by the unwavering support of her family. She was proud of her accomplishments as a mother, her resilience as a cancer survivor, and achieving sobriety—testaments to her strength and tenacity.
Kimmi's laughter will echo in the memories of her three beloved children, Taylor (Gage) Tiffany, Elijah Thompson, and Amelia Thompson. The love of her parents, Rex (Carolyn) McCammon and Mary McCammon, guided her through life, while her siblings—Jimmy McCammon, Kathy (Paul) Key, David (Mary) McCammon, Libby (Jackie) Darby, Kenneth (Michelle) McCammon, and Diana (Frank) Cupples—stood beside her in both joyous celebrations and challenging times. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews, alongside honorary grandchildren, and her beloved granddogs, Marley, Angus, and Pepperoni, embodying the joy of her playful nature.each of whom received a sprinkle of her magic.
A service celebrating her vibrant life will take place on November 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Crosspointe Church in Olive Branch, MS. In true Kimmi fashion, attendees are encouraged to come as they are, shedding traditional funeral attire in favor of a more authentic reflection of who she was and the joy she brought into the world (No Sad Vibes).
Though the memories of her beloved grandparents and her sister-in-law, Connie McCammon, now stand as bittersweet reminders, Kimmi's legacy will continue to thrive in the very essence of those lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.
Kimberly Belle Thompson’s life was a melody of laughter and creativity—a celebration of love that transcended the trials she faced. While she may have departed this earth, her spirit will dance vibrantly in the hearts of those she loved, always encouraging them to celebrate life fully and joyously.
