Laurence Lee Thompson Sr.

September 30, 1938 — June 12, 2019

LAURENCE THOMPSON, age 80, passed away on June 12, 2019.  The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20th from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. and a Memorial service will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Laurence was born in Memphis, Tennessee to John Thompson and Ellamarie Thompson.  He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven, Mississippi.  He was also an avid runner, biker, and swimmer, and enjoyed competing in triathlons.  He was a member and former president of Memphis Running Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; John Thompson, Ellamarie Thompson, and son; Laurence Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years Mrs. Betty J. Thompson, step-daughters; Sue Stewart and husband Chuck of Covington, Tennessee, Carin McClain and husband Mike of Brighton, Tennessee, Wanda Simpson of Southaven, Mississippi, and Lisa Delk and husband David of Covington, Tennessee, daughters; Vikki Dilworth of Nashville, Tennessee, and Leigh Jordan and husband Joel of Arkansas, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild Bella, four sisters; Ellen Jessen, Carolyn Oaks, Claudia Perry all of Pontotoc, Mississippi, and Brenda Miller of Memphis, Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://alz.org or to La Bonheur Children’s Hospital at https://www.lebonheur.org.
