Lena Mae Brotherton

d. January 26, 2026

Lena Mae Brotherton, affectionately known as "Grauh," passed away peacefully at her residence on January 26, 2026, with her beloved daughter Sherri by her side. Born on June 12, 1933, in Ripley, Mississippi, Lena led a life filled with warmth, adventure, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.

For twenty years, Lena embraced the role of a military wife, traveling throughout Europe with her high school sweetheart, Doug. The countless adventures they experienced together inspired cherished memories for Lena and her family, especially for Sherri and Cindi, who fondly remember their travels and the joyful moments shared overseas.

Lena was a woman of remarkable character. Outgoing and caring, she dedicated her life to helping others and nurturing those around her. A devoted Baptist Christian, Lena not only loved the Lord but embodied her faith in her daily life. She found joy in the small things, whether it was sewing, crocheting, or square dancing with Doug in their local club. For her, the thrill of discovering new places resonated deeply, making her love of travel one of her proudest pursuits.

Her family, which was Lena's greatest pride and accomplishment, meant the world to her.   A loving daughter to Troy and Tiny Mae, and a nurturing sister to W.L. Clemmer, Dennis Clemmer, Norma Joyce Freeman, and Nellie Jean Smith, she epitomized the essence of family. Survived by brother, Troy Vernice Clemmer, As well as daughters, Sherri Martin and Cindi (Ronnie) Ross, and a grandmother to six grandchildren—Mark (Nicole) Thomas, Jonathan Shaw, Matthew (Esmeralda) Shaw, Michael (Laura) Shaw, Leigh Ann (Cody) Heuerman, and Kelly Beth (William) Coleman—Lena cherished her role as matriarch. Her heart swelled with pride as she welcomed each of her thirteen great-grandchildren into the world, each representing a unique branch of her beloved family tree.

Though she now rests alongside her late husband, Douglas Ford Brotherton, and her daughter Patricia "Patsy" Nell Brotherton, as well as her dear brothers and sisters, Lena's spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of kindness, love, and devotion will be cherished by her family and friends for generations to come.

A graveside service to honor Lena Mae Brotherton will be held on February 5, 2026, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley, Mississippi, where she will continue to watch over her family from above. As we remember Lena, we carry her laughter, her compassion, and her undying love within us, a testament to a life beautifully lived.
