Marion “Jay” Coscia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2025, in Munford, Tennessee. He was born on February 12, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Marion and Sue (Saddler) Coscia, Sr., who have preceded him in death. Alongside them, he joins his brother Timothy Coscia, who shared many cherished memories with him throughout their lives.
Jay dedicated a significant part of his life to his career at Dupont, now known as Chemours, where he served as an operator until his well-deserved retirement in 2017. He was focused and diligent in his work, but it was his quirky personality, caring nature, and infectious goofiness that truly defined him. Known as the life of the party, Jay had the unique ability to light up any room he entered. He was someone who would give you the shirt off his back and took pride in caring for everyone around him. He loved fiercely, especially his family, which was evident in all he did.
One of Jay's proudest accomplishments was being a devoted father to his sons—Kenneth, Brian (Alex), and Garrett (Brittany). The joy he felt in guiding them through life was palpable; they were always his greatest pride, and he took on the role of father with unwavering dedication. He also cherished his time spent with his granddaughter Madison, who was a bright light in his life.
Jay will always be remembered for his hands-on approach to life. He took immense pride in building the family home together with his wife, Valerie (Campbell) Coscia. Not only was he physically involved in working on the house himself, but he poured his heart into every nail and beam, making it a true reflection of his family's love and unity. His love for carpentry was evident as he crafted beautiful custom pieces of furniture, always with an inventive twist and a personal touch. In his spare moments, he found joy in restoring his cherished '55 Chevy—though he never quite finished, the project served as a testament to his determination and resourcefulness.
Beyond woodworking, Jay was known for his welding skills and his tenacity to take on any task, no matter how challenging. He embraced life's little projects with enthusiasm, always eager to find ways to lend a helping hand to those he loved. Whether it was tearing apart engines, creating handcrafted pieces, or simply doing small things to make someone else’s day brighter, Jay's spirit of generosity knew no bounds.
As we remember Jay, we hold onto the memories of laughter, warmth, and love he shared with us. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love and kindness, an unwavering dedication to family, and an inspiring work ethic that will continue to resonate within all those who were fortunate to know him. His quick wit and endearing antics will surely be missed, but his influence will forever remain woven into the fabric of our lives. In our hearts, we will carry his spirit, his love, and his memory near, celebrating a life well-lived.
