Martha Ozell Holliday Chapman

December 5, 1944 — January 19, 2021

Martha Ozell Holliday Chapman, 76, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on January 19, 2021 surrounded by all four of her children singing “I Can Only Imagine” and holding her hands.

Martha was born on December 5, 1944 to Pauline and Harold Holliday. She had four brothers who she loved deeply. She leaves behind her brother Buddy Wright (Josephine). She was reunited with her siblings who preceded her death Lawrence Wright (Margie), Junior Holliday (Pat), and Billy Holliday (Edna).

Martha is survived by many loved ones with whom she adored with her entire heart. First, her husband of 57 years. She was married to Stanley Eugene Chapman on October 4, 1963. If you spent more than 5 minutes around them, you can probably hear her voice and the way she said “Stanley” as you read that. He was the absolute love of her life. She would always roll her eyes as he asked her to make his plate, but she really loved to do anything to make him smile.

Martha was known by “Mawtha” to some, “Mom” to others, and “Maw” to many. So many people called her “Louise”, that her grandchildren thought it was her middle name. No matter which name you knew her by, she was known as a joy to all who knew her. She lived a long life full of loving and serving others, making witty comebacks, and friendly banter with her husband. She was one of the most hospitable women. Her door was always open and so were her arms. Her family is convinced she gave the world’s best hugs.

Her oldest son is Brian Chapman (Michelle Chapman). His daughter is Chelsie Chapman Gilbert (Bo Gilbert). His sons are Brennon Chapman and Jeremiah Chapman. Chelsie has son Carter Gilbert and two daughters Kessler Gilbert & Kindsay Kate Gilbert. Her second son is Bubba Chapman. He has three sons Bryce Chapman (Heather), Brogan Chapman, and Braden Chapman and one daughter  Brea Chapman. Bubba’s son Bryce has sons Cannon and Asher Cade. Her oldest daughter is Natasha Hammond and her son is Colby Chapman. Her youngest daughter is Nikki Davis (Justin Davis). Nikki has two daughters, Greysen Davis and Baylon Davis. Martha is preceded in death by her firstborn daughter Crystal and her youngest son Dustin. Dustin is survived by his daughter Blayne Stewart.

Martha saw the best in everyone. Everyone that met her loved her, and she loved pretty much everyone she met. She was always smiling and that smile lit up the room. She had a twinkle in her eye when she talked that couldn’t help but make you smile. No one in the world loved their children as much as Martha loved her kids. They truly could do no wrong in her eyes, and she believed they hung the moon. Her family loved to tease her about how she called them all “baby”, but every single one of them actually loved it and would do anything to hear her say it one more time.

Over the last few years, Martha developed a passion for John 3:16 Ministries. She proudly cheered on the men to recovery and had a true gift of encouraging each of them. She had a huge heart to help heal those who were struggling and found joy in ministering to them as they changed their lives. If you needed a champion, she was your champion. John 3:16 Ministries loved their “Mrs. Martha.”

Mother Teresa once said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” And that is exactly what Martha did every single day of her life. She selflessly gave all of her time and energy to loving on her husband, children, and grandchildren. She never bought herself anything, but she sure loved giving gifts! She was wonderful at picking out sweet presents that you were sure to love. But the greatest gift she gave was her unconditional love and a lifetime of beautiful memories for her family to cherish.

The family would like to express their appreciation to everyone for their prayers and loving support. Her loved ones covet your continued prayers as they rejoice for her and her glorious home going, but grieve deeply such a massive loss. As 1 Thessalonians 4:13 says, “We grieve, but not as those without hope.” Martha loved family reunions, so the family knows she will be planning a huge party for the rest of them in heaven.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Longview Heights Baptist Church,

4501 Goodman Road

in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
