Our most treasured mother, Mary Ann Palmer, went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly on her most cherished holiday, Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Mom was all of our shining star.
She worked for Southaven Water Department as the supervisor for 38 years. Prior to that, Mom was valedictorian of her high school class, receiving two scholarships for college – one for academics, the other for basketball, at just 5 feet 2 inches tall. Instead, Mom chose to marry and have children, so obviously, as we all know, she chose the path that best suited her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Palmer, both parents Ida and Traugott Steiner, and her siblings Bobby, Clara, and Lillian.
She leaves behind a daughter Rebecca and two sons, Michael and Robert, Robert’s long-time friend Randy, two stepsons Bill and Roger, and two daughters-in-law Kim and Deana Palmer. Mrs. Ann also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Amanda Martin, Stephanie, Michael, Mathew, Johnathan, Ameleah, Cory, and Cameron Palmer, and 14 great-grands that are too many to name.
Mom will be missed by us all, but knowing she is home gives us a bit of comfort as she was a devoted Christian who taught us all the meaning of love.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm.
