Myrtle McNabb

June 1, 1941 — December 25, 2025

Olive Branch, MS

Myrtle McNabb, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed from this life surrounded by family on December 25, 2025, in Memphis, TN at the age of 84. She was born on June 1, 1941, in Lexington, TN, to Buel and Elna Cox. She grew up in the Lexington area until graduating high school. She then married William J. McNabb and moved to Memphis, TN where she lived most of her life and raised her children. After her children were grown and married, she moved back to Lexington to care for her aging mother until her death in 2000. She ended up moving back to this area and settled in Olive Branch, near her daughter, until her death.

Myrtle devoted her life to family, her children, the church, and friends, always putting their needs above her own. She was a faithful member of the church of Christ, always prioritizing having her children in attendance for worship and all church related activities as her faith guided her decisions and outlook on life. She was known for freely talking to neighbors and others about the church and inviting them to services. She worked from home in various jobs, such as keeping other children, to help out while raising her own. After raising her children, she took the brave step at the age of 50 to further her education. Encouraged by her daughter, she went to college and pursued becoming a licensed phlebotomist. Her hard work paid off as she became highly respected in her field, often called upon at St. Francis Hospital for her exceptional skills, particularly with difficult draws. She worked in various settings both in the Memphis area and Lexington, earning a reputation for excellence, until her retirement in 2003.

Being an active member of her church, Myrtle also cherished her friendships and time spent traveling with them. She was hospitable and always showing support for those around her in any way she could. She loved to crochet, a good sale, the outdoors, and was known for her love of flower gardening. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren, Emma and Olivia. She adored spending time with them feeding them, playing with them, and spoiling them whenever possible.

Myrtle is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne Wofford and son-in-law, John, and her cherished grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Wofford. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, William J. McNabb; son, Jason McNabb; her parents, Buel and Elna Cox; brothers, Dalton Cox and Buel Cox, Jr.; and sister, Maggie Love.

Myrtle will always be remembered for her faith in Christ and His church, her selfless devotion and love for her family, and her encouraging spirit and kindness shared with all she knew and served.

Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS. Visitation will be held on January 4th, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
