Nancy Marie Woods

November 24, 1953 — April 15, 2025

Southaven, MS

Nancy Marie Woods, lovingly known as “Muddie,” departed this life on April 15, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on November 24, 1953, in Houston, Mississippi, Nancy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

A devoted mother and grandmother, her proudest accomplishments were her daughters, Dawn Harmon, Chris Dowdy, and Emily Mead (Sean), and son Jeff Woods (Michelle), along with her grandchildren, Savannah, Alexis, Makenna, and Mary Emma. Nancy poured her heart into every family gathering, fussing over every detail, ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cherished. Her spirit of giving knew no bounds, and she often found herself “running the roads” with her children and grandchildren, creating precious memories.

Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, Nancy had a unique ability to light up any room she entered. Whether she was cooking up a storm or indulging in her favorite shows on QVC, HSN, and reality television, her comforting presence was cherished by all who knew her. Her career as the head teller at First Security Bank showcased her work ethic, but it was her role as a loving matriarch that defined her legacy.

Nancy's faith was also an integral part of her life as well, following Jesus Christ since she was a young child.  During her life, she was a prayer warrior for her family and friends, as well as others that didn't even know she was praying for them.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, James Woods, who stood by her side through all of life's journeys. She will be profoundly missed by her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her universe.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Fred and Jessie Marie (Nichols) Cozart, her brother Jerry Cozart, her father-in-law Henry B. Woods, and her mother-in-law Vestula Lula Woods. Each of these individuals holds a special place in the hearts of her family, who find solace in the love and memories shared.

Nancy’s life will be honored with a visitation and funeral service on April 18, 2025, at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM. She will find her final resting place in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, where her legacy will continue to inspire those who loved her.

As we celebrate the extraordinary life of Nancy Marie Woods, we remember her as a nurturing soul, a masterful cook, and a source of comfort. Her love will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
