Patrick Dewayne “Wayne” Alday, Jr., born on March 6, 1980, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, passed away suddenly on July 18, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, as a result of a motorcycle accident. His passing leaves a profound void among his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

Patrick was the embodiment of determination and generosity. Raised in Mississippi, he embraced every experience with enthusiasm and made a lasting impression wherever he went. Known for his infectious humor, he was a true “picker and jokester," always quick with a joke and eager to make others smile. Patrick’s unique approach to showing affection—teasing those closest to him—became a beloved hallmark of his personality, treasured by family and friends alike.

Throughout his professional career, Patrick was recognized as a hard worker, willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need. He possessed the rare ability to form lasting relationships with those around him, and many of his former bosses remained his friends long after their professional ties ended. His presence at his company will be deeply missed, a testament to his positive influence and enduring work ethic.

Outside of work, Patrick’s passions were many and varied. An avid outdoorsman, he treasured time spent fishing and riding his motorcycle, finding joy and freedom on open roads. He took pride in his daughter Jayne’s involvement in band, ensuring he was always supportive and present for her games and performances. Similarly, baseball was a special bond he shared with his son, Derrin. Ever the enthusiastic cheerleader for his children, Patrick created memories that will endure for generations.

Above all, Patrick’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Lori Shupp, who stood by his side, sharing countless adventures and heartfelt moments. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Cynthia Alday; daughter, Jayne Addison Alday; and son, Derrin Randle. His extended family includes Jeff and Joy Shupp, who cherished him as a father- and mother-in-law; his brother, Lee Powell, and sister-in-law, Becca Powell. Patrick also had a deep affection for his pets—Rosco, Toby, Preslee, and Casper—whom he loved dearly.

Patrick’s life was shaped by the memory of those who preceded him in death, including his father, Patrick D. Alday, Sr.; his grandparents, Edgar R. Alday, Bertice O. Calvert Alday, W. A. Windmeyer, and Charlene R. Windmeyer.

Possessed with an extraordinary aptitude for mechanics, Patrick was known for his skill and determination; there was little he could not fix, and he generously lent his talents to friends and family whenever needed. His helpful nature meant that he was always there to lend a hand or a listening ear. He loved animals and had an uncanny ability to strike up conversations with anyone, never meeting a stranger and regularly brightening the days of those he encountered.

A Celebration of Life service honoring Patrick Dewayne Alday, Jr. will be held on July 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ, located at 1700 Goodman Rd E, Southaven, MS 38671. All who knew Patrick are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a man who brought laughter, compassion, and unwavering loyalty to all he met.
