Richard H. Stansbury, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 28, 2024 in Southaven, Mississippi. He was born on January 1, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Richard leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
In his professional life, Richard served in Vietnam in the United States Air Force, retiring after 23 years of service. After retiring, he worked diligently in manufacturing at Universal Scale and Conveyor for several years before joining Fitzgerald's Casino. His commitment to his work was commendable, leaving a lasting impression on those he worked alongside.
Richard's adventurous spirit and willingness to go beyond expectations extended beyond the workplace. Whether it was helping his daughter Marie catching a large sheepshead fish in Biloxi or helping his daughter Leslie pick out her prom dress, Richard showed that being a father meant being there for every moment, no matter how unconventional.
Known for his grumpy yet loving personality, Richard touched the lives of many with his warmth and genuine nature. His proudest accomplishments were becoming a father and granddad - roles he cherished above all else.
Outside of work and family life, Richard enjoyed various hobbies that brought him joy. From fishing to cultivating his coin collection and exploring the mysteries of the ocean, Richard's curiosity knew no bounds. His passion for collecting seeds and nurturing them into vibrant plant life showcased his nurturing soul.
Richard's memory will forever be treasured by his surviving family: daughters Marie Barron (Scott) and Leslie Stansbury (Kim Stansbury); grandchildren Troy Barron and Tyler Stansbury. In addition to his loving family, Richard is reunited with his wife of 58 years Teresita Stansbury, parents William Glenn and Emily Eileen (Witt) Stansbury, and brother William Ralph Stansbury. Though he may have left this world physically, Richard's presence will continue to live on through the memories he created with those who knew him best.
