Dr. Sabra Drake, affectionately known as “Sabie” or "Frog” by her family, passed away peacefully at her home in Southaven, Mississippi, on January 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on July 2, 1961, in Orlando, Florida, Sabra graced the world with her compassion, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
A brilliant physician, Sabra dedicated her life to serving others during her esteemed career as an internal medicine physician. Her profound knowledge and encyclopedic memory made her a treasured resource for colleagues and a beacon of hope for her patients. Sabra began her career at the Rocky Boy/Little Bear Indian Reservations in Montana. Over the years she worked in several positions as a physician. Progressing to opening her own private medical practice in Vonore, TN. She finished her medical career at Prime Urgent Medical in Southaven, MS where she moved to be close to family. She was celebrated not only for her medical expertise but also for her generous spirit as a philanthropist. She donated to many charitable organizations and has been recognized as a lifetime donor by the UT Health Science Center’s Legacy Society.
Sabra's journey began with a deep commitment to her education. She excelled academically, becoming the Salutatorian of her class at Frayser high school. She attended Christian Brothers College and received her medical degree from UT Health Science Center.
Beyond her esteemed career, Sabra was a devoted family member. Her heart was full of love for her siblings, Sarita and Devon Drake, her nieces, Chelsea and Christa Kramer, and her beloved Canadian family. She opened her home not only to her sisters and nieces but also to their pets in times of need over the years. She always kept her Canadian family in her prayers even as her memory faded.
Sabra was a prayer warrior, always willing to lend an ear and help those in need. A true lover of animals and the great outdoors, she found joy in fishing and admiring nature's beauty. Her passion extended to the arts. She was a writer, watercolor painter, singer/guitar player, knitter, quilter, and she even embraced the elegance of ballroom dancing.
A steadfast member of her church community, Sabra embraced her faith as a born-again Christian, faithfully attending services and Bible studies, even taking on the role of a beloved Bible study teacher. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, exploring the world around her while forging connections rooted in kindness and faith.
Sabra's legacy will endure in the lives she touched and the love she so freely shared. In her passing, she leaves behind her beloved family and friends, who will forever honor the memories of her unwavering support and affection. Her impact on everyone she met—whether through her healing hands as a physician or her nurturing soul as a family member—will echo through the hearts of many for years to come.
Visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both at Getwell Church in Southaven, MS. Interment will take place at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home starting at 12:00 PM.
As we bid farewell to Sabra, we celebrate a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her vibrant spirit, characterized by adventure and devotion, will remain forever cherished in our hearts.
