Thomas “Tom” H. Mowry, 79, of Southaven, Mississippi, passed peacefully on January 5 after a brave and determined battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 27, 1946, Tom lived a life defined by faith, family, and wholehearted commitment to everything he loved. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Rosemarie, building a life centered on love and devotion.
Tom was deeply rooted in his faith and gave much of his time to his church. Music was one of his greatest joys. Blessed with a beautiful voice, he sang in choirs and venues throughout Rhode Island and continued singing after retiring to Mississippi.
A former Hope High School football player, Tom’s love of sports stayed with him throughout his life—especially when it came to supporting and sharing those moments with his children. A lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan, he never lost his enthusiasm for his teams.
Above all, Tom was a devoted father to Skip, Steven, Noah, and Zina, a proud grandfather to Alyssa, Kyle, Colby, Elena, Hannah, Whitley, and Sarah, and a loving great-grandfather to Theo, Pennie, and Zoelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Mowry and Violet J. Robidou, and his brothers Ernest and Daniel, and his son Steven. He is survived by his brothers David of Florida and Robert of Nevada, and his sister Sharon of Texas.
Tom served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Fidelity Investments, where he was known for his dedication and care for others. In retirement, he and Rosemarie settled in Mississippi, where Tom enjoyed the warmth, staying active chasing after his grandchildren, and working with Federal Express at Memphis International Airport.
Tom loved fiercely and selflessly. He spent the remainder of his years enjoying his family and watching it grow. His presence, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
