Virginia Ann Montgomery, affectionately known as Jenny, was born on May 1, 1941, in Fulton, MS, at her parents' home. She departed this life on August 28, 2025, in Southaven, MS. Virginia led a life marked by love, care, and a commitment to nurturing those around her. She ran an at-home daycare for many years, where she played a vital role in shaping the lives of numerous children who came to regard her as family.
Throughout her life, Virginia was known for her loving personality and her dedication to her family, especially to her beloved and devoted husband of nearly 53 years, Russell Montgomery. She is also survived by her daughter, Amy Ross (Jeff), and three cherished grandchildren, Taylor Johnson (Joe), Kristi Cook, and Eva Cook, along with three great-grandpuppies who brought joy to her later years.
Virginia enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including going to the casino, dancing, and fishing. She delighted in taking trips to Panama City Beach and often reminisced about the silly adventures shared during those outings. Her zest for life and her inclination to keep moving forward reflected her spirited nature; she preferred not to stay confined indoors and was always on the go—consistently eager to have things done her way.
Virginia's proudest accomplishments included becoming a mother and grandmother, as well as successfully navigating through college and secretarial school. The values instilled in her by her parents, Tommie Moore and Treva Lee (Gregory) Simmons, were evident in her nurturing spirit and her ability to connect deeply with those she cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Traci McLarty, and two brothers, Tommy Lee Simmons and Kenneth Earl Simmons. Virginia's life was an embodiment of love and commitment, leaving lasting memories for her family and friends.
