Virginia York, age 81, of Southaven, passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday, December 24, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born in Monroe, LA on January 15, 1942 to the late Clarence Willie and Ida Mae (Breedlove) Williams.
Virginia retired from DeSoto County School District after driving school buses for over 20 years. She loved to garden and cook, and was known for her chicken and dressing, meatloaf, potatoes, and purple hulled peas, and deviled eggs, chicken salad, and crab salad, and she loved spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors and making sure they were well fed.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her daughter Tonya Manning, grandson Christopher York and sisters Faye Ulrich and Phyllis Ulrich.
Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her son, Tony York (Meredith), daughter Tina Guy (Jimmy), grandchildren Anthony York (Shawna), Drew Guy (Whitney), Rose Wolf-Hill (Patrick), and Emily Wolf, great-grandchildren Layla York, Everett Guy, Rowan Guy, and Kiera Christine Wolf-Hill, brother Ronnie Williams (Linda), niece Teresa Williams, and her beloved cat, Little D.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
