Director William Kenneth Nichols of DeSoto County Sherriff Department’s Search and Rescue Unit, 33, went home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
William Kenneth was born on January 15, 1987 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church. Along with serving as a senior officer and Sergeant with the sheriff’s department, he held numerous specialized certifications in his field, as well as serving as a NASAR instructor and lead evaluator and a NRA instructor. Among his greatest joys was to serve as the Explorer Advisor through the Boy Scouts of America. Nichols’ whole life revolved around his faith, family, friends, and community. His quiet strength and loyal servant heart was known to all who were fortunate to be in his company.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Lindsay Brister Nichols; children, Leah Beth Lynn Langston and William James Nichols; parents, Keith and Jackie Nichols; grandmother Geraldine Wheeler; mother-in-law Cindy Brister, brother-in-law Joe Brister, and a host of aunts, uncles and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Jefferson Wheeler and his paternal grandparents Billy and Clarice Nichols.
