William Utroska

William "Bill" Utroska, a compassionate and intelligent veterinarian, left this world on August 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on October 21, 1946, in the charming town of Greenwood, Mississippi, he dedicated more than 30 years of his life to caring for animals and supporting their owners in Southaven. Bill was not just a veterinarian; he was a beacon of kindness, compassion, and laughter in his community, embodying the true spirit of an animal companion advocate. A proud graduate of Auburn University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971, he earned accolades as a Mississippi Board certified veterinarian, contributing to the journal of Veterinarian Medicine with several published articles that echoed his passion for the profession.

Bill’s life was rich with memories illuminated by his witty personality and joyful spirit. His wife, Dian Utroska, cherished their time together, relishing the laughter and joy he brought to their home. He had a remarkable ability to answer questions with insight and humor, turning mundane moments into cherished memories filled with joy. He was not just a veterinarian; he was a proud member of the Getwell Church community, where he connected with others through shared faith and fellowship.

Outside of his career, Bill embraced a variety of hobbies and interests that showcased his zest for life. An avid golfer, he relished the challenge of the greens, and as a pilot, he brought adventure into every flight. His love of flying led him to teach flying lessons and even acquire a seaplane license during a memorable trip to Florida. Beyond the skies, he engaged energetically in local government as a member of the planning commission and as an alderman in Southaven, always seeking to improve his beloved community.

He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Amy Elizabeth Utroska, and his siblings: Tom (Kathi), John (Rita), and Charles (Carol) Utroska. Bill also cherished his bond with his brother-in-law, Jim Anderson (Cathy), along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will treasure his memory forever.

Though he has departed from this earthly plane, the legacy of Bill’s kindness, intelligence, and laughter will echo through the lives he touched. He joins his beloved parents, Robert and Ruth Utroska, and his son, John Robert Utroska, in eternal rest. Bill's life was a tapestry of service, humor, and love that will forever inspire those who knew him.
