Cherrie Lynn Gunnels, 61, passed away on August 20, 2021 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Family will be receiving friends on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 starting at 2:30 p.m. with interment immediately following at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Twin Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Cherrie was born on April 8, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee. Cherrie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Horn Lake, MS. She worked at Fedex after working there for 30 plus years. Most of all Cherrie loved her family and friends more than anything in the world. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend anyone could have asked for. Cherrie will truly be missed by her loving smile and warm hugs many grew to love.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Donald Gunnels; children, David Gunnels (Rachael) and Dana Yarbrough (Lance); grandchildren, Kayla Bradford, Emily Gunnels, Gabbriel Gunnels, Magen Gunnels, and Aaron Yarbrough.

Cherrie is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Jay Gunnels; parents, David Earl and Martha Claire Stephens; and grandmother, Opal E. Moody.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 starting at 2:30 p.m. with interment immediately following at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.

    Don, I was so saddened when I heard about Cherrie. I worked with her for over 25 years. I had to go on disability in 2018 and retired 2020. I also had cancer. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember her smiles and her genuine care for people. She always asked me how I was doing. Praying for you and your family at this time.
