Delores Marie Hickey
March 30, 1937 — August 26, 2022
Delores Marie Hickey, age 85, of Southaven, ran into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. She was born in Collierville, TN on March 30, 1937 to the late James and Ona (Campbell) Word.
Delores was the mother everyone loved. She would go on walks with her children and teach them something every time. She was also the neighborhood Mom and welcomed everyone in her home, making sure that no one was hungry, and everyone felt loved. Delores had attended Union University in Jackson, TN, and wanted to be a missionary. She enjoyed singing and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis Word, Andrew Word, and Grant Word, sisters Janie Stewart, Lucille Legg, and Jean Hood, and grandson Daniel Kowalski.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, A L Hickey, children Jamie Hickey (Libby) of Imperial, MO and Pam Mitchell (Charles) of Robinsonville, MS, grandchildren Amanda Phillips (Chris), Adam Kowalski (Grace Leigh), and Kristen Pummer, and great-grandchildren Mason Wilcox, Brody Phillips, Nathan Wells, Jacob Pummer, and Luke Pummer.
Services will be private, and burial will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
