Elizabeth Ann Cox

June 1, 1943 — January 22, 2018

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Cox, 74, of Southaven, MS, passed away on January 22, 2018.  She was born June 1, 1943 in Memphis, TN to John Tazzel and Reba Gertrude Barker. She was a secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mrs. Cox was also a faithful member of Church Road Baptist Church for forty years. She loved her family, grandchildren, and church family more than anything. Mrs. Cox’s pride and joy however, was her faithful companion “Miss Priss”, her fourteen year old Chihuahua. Her personality was one so selfless, that she often thought of and tended to others before herself. Even if she was having a horrible day, she always made sure to make someone else smile and laugh with her humorous antics.

Mrs. Cox is survived by two sons, Eddie Cox and his wife Christi, and Walter Cox; two daughters, Karen Furr and her husband Bobby, and Tammy Bolden and her husband Scott; three brothers, Raymond Barker, James Barker, and Billy Barker; one grandson, Justin Cox; two granddaughters, Amanda McGuire and her husband Brandon, and Kyli Furr and her wife Ivy Stone; two great-granddaughters, Alexis McGuire and Brailey McGuire; two great-grandsons, Gabriel Smith and Nathaniel Smith. Mrs. Cox was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of her third great-grandson, Kyle McGuire.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett French Cox; parents, John Tazzel and Reba Gertrude Barker; and two sisters, Becky Lasiter and Dorothy Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Cox, be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 22478; Oklahoma City, OK 73123).
