James Arthur Huffstatler, Jr.

James Arthur Huffstatler, Jr., 78, of Southaven, MS, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, peacefully in his home in Southaven, MS. Family will be receiving friends on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home (290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS 38671). A visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 also at Twin Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m.  Interment following immediately with Bro. Brad Adams officiating. Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James A. Huffstatler, Jr. was born on July 1, 1940 in New Albany, MS. He retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and the U.S. Postal Service. He worked full-time at both jobs for over 25 years to provide for his family. He also served in the US Navy.  James was a member of First Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He was a part of many organizations in his lifetime, such as Memphis Highland Hundred and the Masons. He was one of the biggest University of Memphis fans and was filled with joy when one of his grandchildren graduated from there recently. He was proud of all his grandchildren.  James enjoyed many things in life, but nothing could bring a greater smile to him than spending time with his family. A perfect day was a picnic with his family at the zoo or family reunions that were mandatory.  He will be remembered by his family for his dry sense of humor and infectious laugh. James Arthur Huffstatler, Jr.  will be truly missed.

James leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Huffstatler; his four children, Denise (Todd) Ivy, Danita (Brad) Adams, Debbie (Scott) Hadley, and David Huffstatler; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Ivy, Hannah Ivy, Haiden (Alexis) Estes, Hailey Estes, Taylor Wilburn, Rebecca Hadley, Brittany Hadley, Samantha Hadley, Jonathan Hadley, Sean Hadley and JD Huffstatler; 7 great-grandchildren, Macy Austin, Madisyn Austin, Abbigail Robertson, Kayden Hadley, Jase Rommel, Jaxx Hadley and Xander Hadley ; siblings,  Betty Jo Cobb and Laverne Evans.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Thella Huffstatler; siblings, Francis Berryhill, Juanita Clayton, Homer Huffstatler, Martha Wilder, Sybil Caldwell, and Billy Huffstatler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Memphis Zoo (2000 Prentiss Pl, Memphis, TN 38112).
