James Frank “Jim” Baker, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jim was born in Lexington Mississippi on March 9th, 1939. He lived a very full life. From humble beginnings in the delta farmlands as the seventh of fourteen children he learned the values of dedication, hard work, and family. At 17, Jim joined the Air Force and preceded to rise through the ranks, completing multiple combat and overseas assignments during his outstanding 23 year career. While stationed in England Jim met his wife Mary. Together they truly shared life, experiencing the highest highs and lowest lows as one united couple for over 59 years. Jim was a great father, providing each of his children with countless lessons for success in life but most importantly he provided unconditional love and support. Jim was a special person and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary; children, Julie (Gene) Hobbs, Lisa (Danny) Chambliss and James (Shelly) Baker; grandchildren, Dustin (Tra) Hobbs, Danielle Sayger, Brett Baker, Olivia Baker, Cecelia Chambliss and Michael Chambliss; great-grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, Avie, Deon, Aryana, Victor, Cameron and Jonathan; sisters, Mary Estes and Irine Martin; brother, Billy Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharron Baker; parents, George Ira and Daisy Baker; 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
