John Thomas Baker, 71, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019 in Southaven, Mississippi. Family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Graveview Presbyterian Church (7660 Swinnea Rd, Southaven, MS 38671) with the services immediately following. Internment will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671). Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
“Bear” as he was so affectionately called by his four grandchildren was born on March 1, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. An avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were a true passion of our beloved Bear. He was a faithful member of Graceview Presbyterian Church.
First and foremost, Bear loved and cherished his family and friends. He always put family first. Bear was a man that anyone could depend on and will truly be missed.
John T. Baker is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Frances “Frankie” Baker; son, Mark Baker and his wife Paige Baker; daughter, Nicole Baker- Becker; grandchildren, Morgan Baker, McKinley Baker, Macy Baker, and Presley Becker; brother, Phillip Baker; newphews, Matt and John Baker; along with a host of other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
John T. Baker is preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Laura Baker; and a brother, Robert Mark Baker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Memphis Union Mission (383 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38105).
