Lee Rossi Calvi

passed away at the age of 89 on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Baptist Hospital Desoto after a long illness.  He was born in Horn Lake, MS to Alex and Rena Calvi on January 18, 1928. After graduation from Horn Lake High, he proudly served his country as a Staff Sargent in the Korean War. He returned home where he married the love of his life Anna Margaret Bowles Calvi.  They were married for 65 years.  He is survived by his wife and their four children, Lee A. Calvi (Judy), Linda Sones (Ted), Mark Calvi and Raynelle Baltz (Mike).  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alec Calvi.  He is survived by his sister Marion (Amelio) Guasco and brother Frank (Margie) Calvi.  Pawpaw was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Steven (Elisha) Sones, Nicole Sones, Shane (Alexa) Baltz, Tyler Baltz, Brett Baltz, Stephanie (Robert) Hisaw and Scott (Wendy) Calvi. He also leaves 10 great-grandchildren with the 11th due in March.  He was a long standing Catholic attending St Paul’s in Whitehaven and Christ the King in Southaven during his lifetime. He was a meat cutter by trade, working over the years with Weingarten’s, Montesi’s and Granny’s Market, but retired over 30 years ago when he was a Foreman with John Morrell.

Before he became ill, he enjoyed working in the yard and garden, making homemade ravioli and gnocchi, but most of all being with his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial gifts be made to Madonna Learning Center, 7007 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38138 or a charity of the donor’s choice.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven, MS on Tuesday, February 14.  A rosary will be recited at

8:30

am with visitation from 9am-11am. The funeral mass will be conducted immediately following the visitation. The burial will be at New Bethlehem Cemetery in Horn Lake, MS. A reception will follow, after the burial at the Christ the King Church.
