Lorene Wallace Branstetter

July 31, 1942 — July 2, 2021

Lorene Wallace Branstetter (Elizabeth, Bates), 78, born in Memphis, TN, on July 31, 1942, went home to Jesus on July 2, 2021, at 1652 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Desoto. She took her final breath surrounded by her three children.

She is survived by her sister Brenda Wallace, brother Jimmy Wallace, sister Tommie Fernstrom, son Mark Bates, daughter Anna Chastain, daughter Lorgene Hamm, granddaughter Emilye Fleming, grandson Wesley Bates, grandson Caleb Bates, great granddaughter Paisley Fleming, and all of the families of those listed above who adored her.

She retired from Walmart, Southaven, MS, as a door greeter, although she wore many hats throughout the store prior to her final position.  She is lovingly remembered by her Walmart family as “Sunshine.”

She was a member of Colonial Hills Church in Southaven, MS, and her favorite Bible verses were James 4:14, Jeremiah 33:3, the entire 23rd Psalm, Isaiah 41:10, 2 Timothy 1:7, and John 3:16.  She would want anyone reading this to make sure you know Jesus.

Best and most common descriptive word for Lorene is SWEET.   She was always smiling, was the best cook, cherished her family, loved her gardens and watching nature.  Her proudest accomplishment was her children and seeing them happy was her heart’s desire.

Graveside ceremony will be held at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July7th. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 starting at 12:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671).
