1926-2016

Ripley, Miss – Marvin C. Mauney was born September 30, 1926 to Mark and Fannie Mauney of Tippah County, MS.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Beatrice (Sweatman); children, Carol Kannel of Herald, CA, Larry Mauney, Dan Mauney, and Kris Van Eaton Mauney of Southaven, MS; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren residing in Texas. His daughter, Sherry Fiveash, preceded him in death in 2014.  He is also survived by two sisters, Elaine Underwood of Southaven, MS and Bernice Riley of Eudora, MS.  Mr. Mauney was a Korean War Veteran and his remains will reside at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill-Irene Drive in Memphis, TN.  He resided in Southaven, MS for 56 years. By trade he was an artisan bricklayer.  His hobbies were gardening, hunting and fishing; once landing a 45 pound salmon in San Francisco Bay. He was baptized as a believer in Midland, TX in his thirties. He loved people and helped many along the way.  He went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2016.  A memorial service will be Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Southaven Community Church, 5340 Airways Boulevard, Southaven, MS  38671.  Arrangements are in the care of Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven.
