Monica Sue Hectorne Hurst, 69, was born August 30, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to the late Herbert and Violet Hectorne and passed away October 20, 2017 in Southaven, MS after a lengthy illness. Monica is survived by her sister, Marsha Bruton of Batesville, MS; and her brothers Greg Hectorne (Pam) of Memphis, TN; Jeff Hectorne (Susan) of Hernando, MS; Tim Hectorne (Cheri) of Walls, MS; and Jim Hectorne (Helen) of Horn Lake, MS. She also leaves behind one uncle, Charles Green of St. Clair, MO, and many, many other family members and friends.
Monica was a member of the first graduating class from Bishop Byrne High School in 1966. She attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser for many years before becoming employed at Federal Express. Later, she went to Mimeo.com, where she worked for several years before retiring to care for her mother full time.
Monica loved spending time with family and friends, sewing, and reading. She loved her cats, Missy and Callie, without end.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Monica at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven on Saturday, October 28, at 12:00 pm. We are asking that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
