SHIRLEY JEAN BAYS
May 28, 1943–November 17, 2022
Shirley Bays (Granny) was born May 28, 1943 in Millstone, KY to Arthur and Lula (Hampton) Stamper.
She grew up making memories with her brothers and sisters and continued that close relationship by sending crazy packages in the mail, getting lost on road trips, dressing goofy for a tea party, and riding in a truck with a pig that was wearing a baseball cap.
Family was the most important thing to her and she loved spending time with them doing anything and everything—even going to the Le Brea Tar Pits for Mother’s Day. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards, and dancing and she was known for making Chocolate and Biscuits for breakfast. She was so adventurous and loved trying new things like hot air balloon rides, sea trek diving, exploring caves, visiting historical and unusual sights like the Washington Monument, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the Winchester House. She had a heart of gold and was always there to help others andshe was the glue that held the family together. Wherever she was, there was always laughter.
Granny was married to Papaw (Floyd) for 54 years before his passing. The love they had for each other was admired by all.
Granny is survived by her son, Floyd Michael (Dawna) Bays, her daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Davis, seven grandchildren, Linda, Eric, Casey, Dallas, Daniel, Destiny, and Devin, and seven greatgrandchildren, Jason, Alexa, Conner, Cannon, Carter, Lily, and Evie.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, favorite aunt, and friend. She was “Granny” to all that knew her – and all that knew her, loved her.
