Mrs. Ethel Lou Barth, 74, of Southaven, MS passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto, located in Southaven. She was born July 22, 1944 to James Peirce and Juanita Wade Kile.
Mrs. Barth was a truly dedicated and passionate woman. She was the daughter, widow, and mother of a United States Marine and she took on those roles with such grace and loyalty. She loved anything that reflected the Marine Corps. Mrs. Barth enjoying giving marriage advice or as she called it “Marine Corps lessons”, to the younger wives who also married into the brotherhood. She was also very giving and loved to feed people. You could often find her taking various cakes and pies to the local police stations and fire departments.
According to her family, Mrs. Barth never met a stranger. It didn’t matter where she went, she was bound to make a friend because she loved everyone. She was always cutting up and joking with everyone, keeping them as well as herself laughing. She loved to read and watch old westerns, especially any starring John Wayne. She also enjoyed making pottery in her younger days, as well as knitting and taking yoga classes with her daughter in law. She absolutely loved visiting New Orleans whenever possible.
One phrase can be used to describe the life of Mrs. Barth, “She Lived”. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless memories she made with family and friends.
Mrs. Barth leaves behind her son, Wade Barth and his wife, Shanon of Horn Lake, Mississippi; two sisters, Mary Shadlin of Memphis, Tennessee and Ruth Geiger and her husband, Kenny of Memphis, Tennessee; three granddaughters and one grandson, Russell Barth, Jessica Barth, Rose Barth, and Faith Barth all of Horn Lake, Mississippi. Mrs. Barth also leaves behind a host of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving and dedicated husband, Calvin F. Barth; and parents, James Peirce and Juanita Wade Kile.
A memorial cookout in memory of Mrs. Ethel Lou Barth will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM. The family asks that anyone who would like to attend, please RSVP by contacting Wade Barth (901) 482-2586.
